UNASCO has been awarded a five year contract by the Presidency of Civil Aviation to install and operate a common user Departure Control and Baggage Reconciliation Systems at all common user points in the foreign terminals of King Abdulaziz International Airport - Jeddah and King Khaled International Airport - Riyadh.

UNASCO has installed the Ultra Electronics International “SEATS” Stand-alone Departure Control System and “BAGS” Baggage Reconciliation System. This software can operate on a completely stand-alone basis or as a common user host interface to airline hosts. The stand-alone facility also provides back-up check-in, in the event of a host connection being broken, to avoid reverting to manual check-in process.

A dedicated city check-in facility was constructed in Jeddah by UNASCO in 1996 to provide baggage acceptance and security services for 200,000 returning Indonesian pilgrims leaving the Kingdom over a 25 day period. This facility has now been extended to provide similar services for all Malaysian pilgrims.

This facility reduces the congestion in the Haj terminal at the airport and provides a very secure delivery service of pilgrims baggage to Indonesia. Baggage is moved from the city check-in facility to the airport, to a specialized palletisation area, in sealed containerized trucks.
